While three of every four people in York County support one or more nonprofit organizations during their lifetimes, fewer than one in ten provide for those very same organizations after their death. Thanks to the hard work of many individuals, LEAVE A LEGACY® York County has successfully recruited extensive assistance from three important groups in an effort to bridge this gap.
First, over 100 local nonprofits are actively engaged in this effort, promoting among their various constituents the need for increased planned giving in order to support their on-going missions and programs. Second, professional advisors, including accountants, trust officers, insurance professionals, financial service providers, attorneys and others have demonstrated their commitment to significantly raising the level of charitable giving in York County by agreeing to furnish their clients with information relative to charitable giving techniques and asking them what role, if any, charitable giving may play in their estate plans. Third, LEAVE A LEGACY® York County has begun reaching out to the community at large with newspaper ads and articles, television and radio news coverage and public service announcements, brochures, direct mailings, a web site, a toll-free telephone number, displays and other vehicles.
There is virtually no limit to what this collaboration can accomplish on behalf of the many deserving charities in York County; and there are very few things that can give one greater personal satisfaction than knowing his or her support of one or more charitable organizations will continue for generations.
